My son loves this laptop. He has autism and this is great for him - he loves the little monkey. There are so many wonderful games to play on this little laptop. Wonderful for children with autism (most of Vtech's toys are).

 "My 4 yr old's favorite toy" 2009-07-28
By M. McCartney (29 Palms, CA)
This is an awesome toy! It keeps my 4 yr old son occupied for long periods of time. The only negative, which others have mentioned is the screaming monkey sound. But if your kid is smart enough to play the games, he or she is smart enough to turn the volume down. The first time he used it I showed him how, and now he knows that is the first thing he does when he wants to play with it...problem solved!

"My girls love their laptops" 2009-07-17
By Susana S. Grijalva (Corona, CA USA)
We received the first laptop 2 years ago and then another one on Christmas so luckily, my girls don't have to fight over it. My soon-to-be 4 year old is just starting to like using it more because she's learned to use the mouse on our PC so it's easy for her to use it on the laptop. My only complaint is that the mouse doesn't stay in place so it's hard for her to use it in the car, which would be ideal. If there were a way to lock it into place, that would have been great. Other than that, she learns a little more everyday and I love to hear her get excited when she gets something right. My 2 1/2 year old likes to push the buttons but she doesn't understand it too much. But, she will in time. (I've had no trouble with them breaking. I think they're pretty durable.)

"Fun for kids until it breaks..." 2009-07-13
By Megan (USA)
This is not a durable toy. My daughter loved her's, but it broke after two months. The mouse was never very accurate, and then it stopped working altogether. Without the mouse, you cannot choose the activity you want. My daughter was never rough with this toy. She just sat in front of it pushing the buttons. I would not recommend this product.

"Incredible figure. One of the best I've owned." 2009-08-11
By B. Hall
The Leader Optimus Prime from Revenge of the fallen is an outstanding figure that is well built, durable, and lots of fun. This is probably my favorite figure to date in regards to how well made the figure is.

I still have my original G1 Optimus Prime from the 80s, and the 25th anniversary re-release of that figure, which along with Ultimate Bumblebee, have been my favorite figures of all the ones I currently have or have owned in the past. As much as I like the 3 previously mentioned figures, this new Movie Leader Optimus Prime is probably my new favorite as a figure (although my original G1 Prime will always be my favorite overall when considering the nostalgia factor).

First of all, this figure is very well made. Both modes are excellent representations of the movie character, and the incredibly complex transformation is both fun and amazing. At first, he seems a bit difficult to transform, and there are places in the instructions that really aren't clear on what needs to be done, but even with that being said, I still have to give this figure 5 stars.

Both robot and vehicle mode are sturdy, and all of the pieces fit together snugly and stay pretty tight. Even though the figure is made of plastic, it does not feel cheap in any way. The transformation takes some practice and patience at first, but once you get the hang of it, its really a lot of fun and you realize how much of a work of art that this Optimus Prime figure is.

While as others have said, I wouldn't recommend it for young children, if you're considering buying this figure at all, don't hesitate. It's well worth the money and is a great figure to have in your collection.

 "Overall, Great Toy!" 2009-08-10
By J. Ulanoski (Drums, PA)
I would have to say, that out of all the other Transformers toys I own, this is one of my favorites. Compared to the Leader Class figure from the first movie, it is far superior. It is quite a bit less bulky, and easier to move around. Also, its robot mode is much more movie accurate than that of its predecessor, as well as its vehicle mode, which actually resembles a true semi cab, as opposed to the previous one, whose alternate mode looked rather cartoon-like.

On the downside, this toy is certainly hard to transform. The difficulty rating of "4" is somewhat of an understatement. But, I suppose there's a give-and-take. More movie accuracy means more frustrating of a transformation (in particular, from robot to vehicle mode). Also, the directions don't really facilitate this. They're rather difficult to follow. I can only hope that with time, I'll be able to transform this figure as easily as the last. It's definitely a worthy challenge for those who are fans of the movie toy line.

Another thing is the flip-out energy swords. I like that they look more like they do in the movie for this toy, and that there is two of them, but I think Hasbro could've done something a little more clever with the way they extend out (such as the way the old one used to shoot straight out, not flip around).

Overall, I was really impressed with this figure. However, while the box claims it is for ages 5 and up, there is no possible way a 5 year old would be able to transform this toy on their own. I would probably say that it would be pushing the cerebral limits of a 13 year old to be able to do it. Although, I think we all know by now that the Deluxe, Voyager, and Leader class figures from the movies are really intended for those that are older and/or fans of the original cartoon series, and want to be able to revisit their childhoods. And in that respect, kudos Hasbro!

"Great Version of Optimus, just hard to Transform" 2009-08-10
By MJB
This figure is amazingly well articulated. The paint job is almost a complete match and the voice-over is pretty accurate. Its contruction is solid, minus two break-away parts or so that seem to be required in case too much pressure is applied. It's not a big deal, and once you actualy manage to transform him his parts don't have to snap back on. It took four guys (all of us 25-29 years old) to figure out how to transform Optimus. The instruction sheet provided is not very good, so I will warn you ahead of time-devote about 3-4 hours with your child if you gift it to a young one! Somehow, I get the feeling that part of a mechanical engineer's final exam for a masters degree involves being sealed in a room with Leader Version Optimus Prime....hence why I rated this toy as 'educational'. But hey, all in all I'd buy it again!

"I am Optimus Prime, can't transform to a truck..." 2009-08-09
By Arnel J. Domingo (Phoenix, AZ USA)
Unless you are extremely patient, or you or your kid is an engineering genius, think 10 times before you buy this product. This toy has the worst instruction I've ever seen. The instruction is a series of tiny drawings with tiny arrows that you'll need to decipher which part to move and how to do it. A caption should have helped but I think the maker of this toy was a fan of puzzles (rubik cube?) and thought that those who would buy this toy were fans of puzzles as well.

Hey hasbro, next time you sell toys like this, put a tag line like "challenge yourself to build this puzzle!"

My son turns 2 in a couple months. He's been playing with this for a while and it has really helped him learn his letters. If your child likes puzzles, this is a really great toy! The only thing I would change is maybe include some sort of storage for the letters. We store them in the wooden box that comes with the toy, but it would be nice to have a lid for the box.

"Perfect toy for a 2 year old!" 2009-07-21
By Michelle Frye (Houston, TX)
We just got this for our two year old and it immediately became a favorite toy for both of us. She already knows her letters and is now working on reading. This toy really emphasizes the different letters and how to put them together to make words. This is really great - we will now give it away as a birthday gift to all her little friends. This toy is highly recommended!

 "It's a good idea" 2009-07-10
By B. Coleman (STL, MO)
I liek the puzzles & the kids plat with it often - but I hate that the letters are covered with a lid or some type of plastic that snaps on. The letters are forever getting lost! Drives me crazy! And with a 2 & 4 year old I have a hard enough time trying to keep up with little toy pieces. I put it up now & when they want to play with it, I get it out, but then when they are done - it goes right back! But it's a good buy overall.

 "Excellent Spelling Toy" 2009-06-28
By Liza Dufresne (Boston, MA United States)
My younger son is four and a half. He has been interested in letters for quite some time. This toy has allowed the "penny to drop." He now totally gets it that letters make words, which is the next level after just "knowing your abc's." He looks at the picture, fishes out the letters, builds the word, then sounds it out. Once he finishes the word, I say, "what does that spell?" He says the word phonetically. I say, "and how do you spell that?" He spells it out letter by letter. He is so proud of himself that he is reading! The picture is there as a reinforcement. I really love the wooden, old-time solid contruction, too. I do agree with other reviewers that there should be a cover; indeed, it's odd that a plexiglass one is not included as it is with the other M & D sets. But that is really a minor complaint. Just store the thing flat. Also, I take out the letters and put them in a tupperware or on a larger surface area so that the child can find the letters more easily. Finally, I agree with other reviewers that this may not be a toy that the child will "play with for years." But isn't it worth the price to further your child's interest in reading? I also have a seven year-old who is now reading chapter books and, believe me, once they start reading you do not have to spend so much time entertaining them and the boob-tube goes off; they will be holed up in their rooms reading Chet Gecko, Nate the Great or what-have-you. YES!! For pete's sake, you can always save the toy for another child or pass it on to someone else. Go for it! p.s. I called it a "Spelling Toy" when I gave it to my son. I did not call it a puzzle or say, "Let's learn how to read!" Hence, the title of my review. I've always gotten better results by making things a game.

"Good Quality Sound and materials" 2009-08-03
By J. Leveling (MD)
This is quality materials and the sound is better than most toys. We bought this because our 8.5 month old is pulling herself up on things now to stand, so we figured this would be a good reward for pulling herself up. However the table is not very sturdy, even a 15 lb. 8 month old can pull it down on her while trying to pull herself up.

I would suggest leaving the legs off the table until your child can stand up without pulling on something. It simply wasn't made for that.

"Fun toy and not annoying!" 2009-08-03
By K. Duncan (SC)
My daughter will stand at this and play for a long time! She loves the "book" in the middle and the little door that opens and shuts on the side. I like the adjustments for the sound, not too loud overall. This has been banged around and turned upside down by my daughter and continues to work great, so it is very durable.

"Great, but don't put the legs on right away" 2009-08-01
By guessohio (Ohio, USA)
My daughter loves this - BUT when I first got it out, the manual said to use without legs or with. I put them on to see how tall it was and if she could reach from her bumbo. It was too tall so I tried to take the legs off ... they dont' come off - EVER!! I sent a message to customer service and they said if there wasn't a tab, I got one that the legs didn't come off. How stupid is this ... although she loves it, I have to hold her or it all the time. I won't be able to store easily. I am sure there is a safe way to make the legs so they can come on and off, what a lazy way to make a decision that affects parents. WARNING - don't put the legs on until your child is ready to stand with it or you will regret it.

If there is 1 toy that I can recall has been value for money for my baby girl, is this table. It is amazing toy and very durable and my daughter enjoyed it to the fullest.

Plus whenever some kid visit us, they enjoy this toy and even my cousins started liking this toy so much as started to play with it and most of them are 20+... :-)

There are review that children tend to use it as stool. But then there are so many things in the house that children learn can be used as a stool... e.g. we bought a small chair for her, she started using that as a stool. At least for this one we can take out the legs.

"She loves it, and it's not annoying!" 2009-07-29
By Randell Jesup (Malvern, PA USA)
Our 13-month old daughter loves this (she's had it for several months; a hand-me-down from a relative, whose daughter, now 5, loved it as well). There is a wide variety of music and sounds, and it's actually not annoying - the music clips are real music, even including some jazz-vocal 'skat'. There are two volume levels, and the legs attach and remove very quickly and easily for travel/etc. Very stable - our daughter was standing and working her way around it long before she could walk unassisted, and it's never tipped over. Also obviously very durable, since this on is on it's second kid.

I heartily recommend it for anyone with a pre-toddler or toddler.

 "Important Warning" 2009-07-20
By Daniel Liedtke
Important warning to all.

While this product is a nifty toy and everyone has already commented on the finite number of variations that you can make, there is something that buyers should take into account. Some early reviews state that you can put in more than one "crystal" to get a third color; ex. red and blue make purple. This is no longer the case. Hasbro has changed the programming and you can only get red, blue or green; no color combinations. To be honest, this was the selling factor for me, so I was quite disappointed to discover this.

All in all, the product is fun and a great addition to your Jedi arsenal, but just know that you will not be able to that beautiful purple blade you may desire.

A concerned Jedi.

maybe I didnt research this game enough, I read the "4 games in 1" and thought that was exciting...but each version is a slight variation only of the actual game. I saw this game for some time, but just didn't think it would be fun. After seeing all the positive reviews I decided to buy it for my son's birthday. It is a lot of fun. The courses we set up do not span a great distance--so we don't do a lot of running. However, I'm thinking of expanding the distance and perhaps I could lose some weight as well as having fun!

"Great toy - good exercise and educational value" 2009-06-20
By MrFurhley
We have 3 kids of our own. Our oldest is 6 and we have a 4 year old and 1 year old. One weekend when we watched my sister's kids (ages 4 and 1), we bought this game via AmazonFresh. It was great fun for the 4 and 6 year olds. Obviously not appropriate for the 1 year olds.

First you spread out the targets around the room or yard which are different colors and have numbers on them. You select a game (hyper dash, micro dash, micro team dash) and a level (1-3). The first player strikes any target to start. The "wand" then speaks instructions to the player such as "Green!" (strike green target) or "Double Strike Blue" (hit blue target twice) or "CompuStrike 6 minus 3" (meaning strike the target with the number 3 on it) or "Reverse" (strike last target) The player follows the instructions. If they get it wrong, the wand makes a buzzing sound and they have to keep trying. The goal is to get through all the commands in the round in the shortest time possible. AFter everyone has gone, the wand tells you which player won. There can be ties. The winners advance to the next round.

Our 6 year old understood all the commands which includes colors & math & some memory. The math was too advanced for the 4 year olds but they got the colors & memory commands.

We found that if you placed the targets far enough part (outside in the yard or at the park), the game was good exercise as the kids ran around from target to target.

The game is easy to transport - light and compact. It takes 3 AA batteries. Fit well in our stroller.

The kids really got into this game and were quite tired when they finally stopped. It seemed to exercise all the right muscles and kept their attention for at least 1-2 hours

 "Great Game" 2009-07-07

We enjoy playing this game by ourselves and with friends. There's no limit to how many can play this game, the more the merrier! It is confusing at first but once you get how to play it (usually the second time around our friends were pros at it) it is very engaging. It is based on visual observations and lots of cognitive sorting of different combinations of cards. it is very simple, portable, great travel game... only needs a flat surface to lay out the cards. this game is also great fro all ages. it is great fir children to develop patience, observation and thinking skills, and it is great for adults to keep the brain working :)

"Wow. What a work-out for the brain!" 2009-06-21
By Ulyyf (NYC)
This game is... both easy and difficult. There are four different categories for each card (shape, color, number, shading) and each category has three options. You have to identify sets that match in ALL four categories - either they have to be ALL the same in a category, or ALL different in a category.

So if they can be all green, all diamonds, but TOTALLY different in shading and number.

The person with the most sets at the end of the game wins, and they have suggestions for variations at their website.

Teaching yourself to recognize the categories is hard, but the rules are simple. I suspect that some people are just naturally going to find this game easier than others - it seems very much to be a "way your brain works" kind of game. That means it's certain to be a good levelling game because your kids might be better at it than you are - and all kids like to win because they WON and not because of chance or being allowed to win :)

"A fun, but competitive game..." 2009-06-10
By Colleen Leung
The game SET is really a diamond in the rough. With all of today's video games, talking this & that and animatronic do-dads, Set is a great source of entertainment for all.

General Commentary:

- Ideal for groups of small (1) to medium size (5 or so).

- I normally play in a group of 20 somethings

Benefits:

- Great for mind stimulation.

- Great for younger (learning colors, numbers, shapes, etc) and older kids alike

Caveats:

- With older "kids", the game can get a bit competitive

- At times, the game gets very close to a game of Hot Hands and it's a matter of who can get there faster -- with apprehension anytime anyone moves a muscle

- Not good for car rides or playing outside in potentially windy areas

Overall:

- The game is wonderful, but can get a bit competitive and a little addictive.
