I can't express how much fun this game is. It covers my five areas for a great game, Group Interaction, Strategy, Non-repetitive, engaging, and a little bit of chance. The bonus is the primary goal isn't to destroy or humiliate your opponent, how many games can say that, not Monopoly.
The 4th edition differs with some updated tiles and cards but the biggest improvement is the water tiles are now interlocking meaning a more stable board game. By now you would have mostly read the review so I just add my vote for best game ever.

I bought this game for my 16 year old son who read that it was better than Monopoly (which he loves). Well, we have been playing nothing else at home and he constantly bugs his friends to play with him as well. But beware, it has started some rivalries and we continue to play just to get revenge. It's kind of addicting like those silly computer games!

I read about this game in Wired Magazine. It sounded too good to be true. I purchased the game and played it this evening with my 8 and 12 year old sons. They ranked it the best game they had ever played. That is saying a whole lot from a couple of active boys who are used to computers, DS and DSI hand held games, chess and Battleship. We had a ball playing the game. It was pure joy around the table! Although the world of the game and its ways are unlike anything we have ever played we found it easy to learn, fast paced and satisfying. This really is a 5 star board game.

This newer edition of the has the water around the border fit together like puzzle pieces, which is very convinient for keeping all of the pieces together, but if one of those puzzle pieces gets damaged or bent, it can just make it more difficult. Overall, this game is extremely fun and does not take forever like some board games...
